Soda was a female cat I obtained for free,
But nothing is for free.
When I chose her, she was suckling on the on the milk from her mum with the rest of her siblings.
I chose Soda because she was not on her mother’s teet.
Her siblings were and she had a face almost like an eye roll at the greed of her siblings that were vying for position to be fed.
I thought to myself, “I’m going to choose Soda because she is not greedy and seems to understand the hysterical form greed can take”.
I took her back to my unit where all she did was growl in my apartment. In any room I was not.
I did not force her to be in my company. Instead I roamed around my apartment as if Soda wasn’t there.
Slowly, Soda got closer to me yet still growled until she became accustomed to laying on my lap in my dressing gown.
A purr and a claw on my lap and that’s when Soda and I became friends.
Soda would watch me in the bathroom, get in my way.
There was a time she purred on my chest as I awoke from an anxious sleep.
She seemed to know when I would arrive home when I would drive into the driveway.
She was my protector as much as I tried to be hers.
It pains me to think that I abandoned her one day when she did not return to my home for one day.
I have no excuse for that but thankfully my mother took her in.
My brother Edward loved Soda because she was very peaceful and never made noise.
I loved Soda because she was peaceful.
My brother Christian loved Soda because she was peaceful.
Soda was a peaceful cat.
Soda lived the rest of her years in different apartments with my mother and sometimes my brothers.
Soda was a cat that always gave way.
I don’t know how Soda died.
Although I know how Soda lived.
Soda died giving way to life.
